Spring and Flowers and Gnomes...Oh My!!!

Based on my being recognized at the Cut It Up Challenge Blog last month, I am serving as a guest designer for their current Spring Challenge.  The theme is die cut flowers and/or butterflies.  In response to the challenge, I upcycled a cigar box with a Flower and Gnome theme in mind.

The supplies I used are as follows:

PhotoPlay Papers:  Tulla and Norbert collection

Heartfelt Creations:  Oakberry Lane Blossoms (cling stamps and craft dies), flower stamens

Gina K Designs and Therm-O-Web:  Gnome for the Holidays Craft Kit (including gnome dies)

Distress Inks:  used to color the die cut flowers

I think I've become rather addicted to the Cut It Up Challenge Blog!  I'm entering a card for the most recent challenge theme which is Black, White & a Pop of Color.  I could only enter one project in the challenge but I made two cards which I'm showing here.

Art Journal Newbie

During COVID pandemic, I was looking for some new crafty endeavors and I ended up purchasing some Dyan Reaveley products through Ranger.  Subsequently, I started playing around with the inks, paints, stencils, and stamps to make this two-page art journal layout.  Hopefully I'll get to playing around some more in the near future.  In the meantime, I am playing along with this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge:  Anything But a Card

Happy Birthday Card with a Rainbow of Stars

This card was inspired by a recent blogpost/video done by the incredibly talented Jennifer McGuire.  I used the Cascading Stars stencil from Newton's Nook and ink blended using a rainbow of Distress Inks.  Once the inks were dry, I applied a layer of Gina K Glitz Glitter Gel (iridescent) through the stencil.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is a Simon Says Stamp wafer die called Painted Happy Birthday.  I carried the star theme to the inside with a purple die cut star using the Hero Arts 5 Point Stars Infinity Dies.  On the inside star I stamped "Celebrate" using a sentiment stamp from the Gina K Designs Beautiful Balloons stamp set.

I am entering this card into this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge:  Anything Goes

My First Try with a Mixed Media Board

I have been so inspired by so many mixed media artists that I figured I would give it a try myself.  I recently purchased the Julie Nutting "Abby" Stamp, which I stamped and then colored using Copic Markers.  The papers I used came from the Authentique paper collection titled "Love Notes".  The stamped background images are from Tim Holtz Stamper's Anonymous "Ultimate Grunge" set, which I stamped using some Ranger archival ink.  I searched the internet for inspirational quotes and found one from Beyonce that I thought was perfect.  I am entering this project in the Stay Crafty with Hero Challenge where this month's theme is "Include a Heart" and also the Simon Says Stamp's "Layer It Up" Wednesday Challenge.
