Somewhere Over the Rainbow

When I was a little girl, my favorite movie was the Wizard of Oz.  I can remember watching it every year when it came on TV.  Now, my daughter enjoys watching it too!  A few months back, I found some Wizard of Oz scrapbook papers (Paper House Productions) and I just knew that I had to use them to decorate one of the cigar boxes I had stashed away.  When my daughter saw the box I made, she asked if she could keep it, and of course I said "yes".  She has filled it with a bunch of knick-knacks and it sits on top of her dresser.  I've since made a second box, using the same Wizard of Oz papers; it is pictured below.  For this box, I did something a little different where I stacked some buttons to make a handle.  I also used a Close To My Heart stamp to stamp the sentiment "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".  On the inside lid, I made a pocket where I tucked in a die cut of Dorothy and another one of the Wicked Witch.  It was really fun making this box and I'm so glad it fits in with this week's Monday Challenge:  Mythology/Inspired by a Story over at the Simon Says Stamp blog.  Check it out!

A Trio of Coasters

I started making resin-covered coasters last year.  I buy the ceramic tiles at Home Depot and then apply scrapbook paper to them using Mod Podge.  Sometimes, I stamp an image on them too.  After I've glued on the paper and stamped an image, I apply another two layers of Mod Podge before I finish with a layer of resin.  This way, they have a glass-like appearance and are waterproof.  I also put a square of self-adhesive cork on the bottom.  I have given several as gifts and they've been well received.  The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge:  Trio of Something inspired me to post a picture of three of my coasters.  For these, I applied two different scrapbook papers (green base and strip with flowers), then I stamped on them using an old Close To My Heart stamp set.  I love the sentiment on these coasters!

A Trio of Baby Cards

Today I am showing off a trio of baby cards I recently made using the Little Onesie stamp and coordinating die cut set by Clearly Besotted.  I colored the images using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers   The cards measure 3x3 inches each.  I have entered them into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge:  Trio of Something.  There are a few people I know having babies this year so they should be put to good use soon enough!

Happy Birthday Card with Trio of Birds

I purchased the stamp set "I'm Tweet on You" (My Favorite Things) a while back but just recently got around to playing with it to make a few cards.   I was inspired by some cards I saw here on Pinterest. I colored the images using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, and also used the Stitched Hillside Borders die set by Lawn Fawn to make the green hillside.  Since my card has a trio of birds and a birthday theme, I decided to enter it into both the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and Wednesday Challenge.
